This Dior Chronograph Watch Is A Matte Black Beauty

The famed luxury brand goes back to black with the Dior Chiffre Rouge Black Ultramatte Chronograph.

It’s been two decades since Dior introduced the Chiffre Rouge, more than enough time for the watch to cement its place as a distinctive icon — and more than enough time for a revamp to bring it into 2024.

The Dior Chiffre Rouge Black Ultramatte Chronograph, so named for its red “chiffres,” or digits, in the date window, is back in a big way and in a new matte black stainless steel finish for maximum style and sex appeal.

Sized nicely at 41mm and boasting an angular. asymmetrical case and zig-zag “Dior” detailing on its rubber strap (available in three colors), the timepiece is both sporty and yet pleasingly refined, not unlike the designer’s sportswear and runway-ready fashion.

It also features the sort of interior build that would make watch enthusiasts proud, as the Dior Chiffre Rouge is powered by its CD.001 movement.

That movement, in fact, is produced by legendary watchmaker Zenith, and the El Primero keeps time down to 1/10th of a second. Not bad for a watch from a famed fashion house, right?

Triple-chronograph functionality pops nicely on the angular dial, which features sleek black indices, two-tone hours and minutes hands and that characteristic red seconds hand in a nod to Dior’s use of red throughout its line.

Of the timepiece, Dior said the “Chiffre Rouge offers a modern take on historic codes, enhanced by Dior’s signature Cannage motif.”

And while it’s a splurge at $13,500 online at Dior, the timepiece is a worthy reinvention of a sporty yet surprisingly elegant timepiece with historic good looks.
