KHLOE KARDASHIAN TALKS “PROTECTING HER KIDS INNOCENCE” IN NEW INTERVIEW

Co-parenting can be hard at best. When there are “complicated” feelings in the midst, it can sometimes be downright difficult. In a new cover interview with tmrw, Khloe Kardashian opens up and talks how she is shielding her children from her past with their father, Tristan Thompson, in an effort to “protect their innocence“.

“With me and Tristan, would it be really easy to never talk to him again and to just badmouth him or whatever? Of course. But it’s way harder to be nice,” Kardashian said in her interview of the co-parenting relationship. “It’s way harder when you’re really mad at someone, it’s really hard to sit in their face in front of your kids and be like, ‘Hi!’ “

Kardashian openly continued, “Trust me, that’s not how I feel every day. I had to learn to take control of my feelings. There were so many times that my feelings got control of me and I was impulsive and I tweeted something or posted something and things that you regret. But in my opinion, I’ll never regret being a nice person.”

The 39-year-old told tmrw that she feels that by keeping things amicable between she and her former partner she is “protecting their innocence” as she wants her children to have a “beautiful relationship” with their father.

“I want my kids to have beautiful relationships with their dad. And if we’re blessed enough to have a dad that wants to be there and wants to show up and be hands-on, why would I prevent that from happening?”

The 32-year-old NBA free agent and Kardashian share two children: five-year-old True and 17-month-old Tatum.

Kardashian and Thompson had an on-and-off again relationship since they started dating in 2016. The couple made a permanent break in 2021 after the revelation of the existence of Thompson’s son, Theo, who was conceived while Thompson and Kardashian were still together and expecting their second son Tatum.

Although Theo was born a few months before Tatum, it wasn’t until about two months ago that the Good American co-founder actually mentioned the child in public for the “first time”.

In a candid conversation with Thompson during an episode of The Kardashians, Kardashian expressed, “In this family, if you do something to one of us, it affects everyone and they’re entitled to their feelings. Kardashian told Thompson. She continued, “It’s not some small thing that happened.”

Thompson replied in the clip, “No, I hear you.”

The Hulu reality star then acknowledged that “Time has gone by. It’s done.” She continued, “My son is here, your other son is here and some of their emotions have settled down — not forgotten, not forgiven, any of that — just settled down.”

As Kardashian still works through her feelings towards Thompson, it is evident that she is constantly putting her children first and ensuring that they have the best of both parents. And that, of course, is a co-parenting job well done.
