John David Washington Rumored To Be Jonathan Majors Replacement As Marvel Studios’ Kang The Conqueror

John David Washington could be Marvel Studios’ new Kang The Conqueror.

According to insiders close to the matter, actor John David Washington is being eyed to replace fellow actor Jonathan Majors as the supervillain Kang The Conqueror — the central antagonist in the Multiverse Saga of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The possible casting comes after Marvel dropped Jonathan Majors following his guilty conviction in his domestic violence case last December.

As you may already know, Jonathan Majors was found guilty of one count of reckless assault in the 3rd degree and a charge of harassment as a violation. The charges stem from a domestic dispute that occurred in March 2023 with his then-girlfriend Grace Jabbari while in the backseat of an SUV. The actor was acquitted on another charge of assault and one of aggravated harassment.

Jonathan Majors previously portrayed Kang the Conqueror in 2023’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and in the Disney+ series “Loki.” Now, the character is set to be reprised as the major villain in 2026’s “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” which has since been renamed to “Avengers 5.”

As previously covered, back in December, Marvel executives were reportedly in discussion about switching the MCU’s focus to another nemesis or recasting Majors’ role completely during their annual meeting retreat in Palm Springs. In addition to parting ways with Marvel following his guilty verdict, Majors’ film, “Magazine Dreams,” was also pulled from Disney’s release schedule.
