HBCU President Placed On Paid Administrative Leave After VP Of Student Affairs Commits Suicide Due To His Alleged Bullying

An HBCU located in Missouri is currently making headlines due to intense bullying allegations and the untimely death of a faculty member.

John Moseley, president of Lincoln University Of Missouri, volunteered to temporarily step down from his position and be placed on paid administrative leave. During his absence, a third party will investigate the untimely death of the vice president of student affairs, Dr. Antoinette Candia-Bailey, who took her own life as a result of his alleged bullying.

A statement from the university’s Board of Curators said,

“As a Board, we are committed to make certain the mental health of Lincoln University employees is a priority and that every employee is always treated with dignity and respect. The Board has confidence in the leadership team we have at Lincoln, but as we all work together to serve students and the Lincoln University community, this review will fully examine important questions, concerns and gather facts. Dr. Moseley agrees those issues should be examined and has volunteered to go on leave during the review so that it can move forward in a fully independent way.”

For those who may be unaware of the tragic situation, Dr. Candia-Bailey died by ??suicide on Jan. 8. According to reports, sources claim that she was left “unsupported, disregarded, and abused after countless attempts to speak out on the bullying and harassment she experienced in her role from President Moseley.”

Dr. Candia-Bailey reportedly asked to be placed on Medical leave, informing the board that her relationship with Moseley went “downhill” because of her depression and anxiety. However, despite being made aware of Dr. Candia-Bailey’s mental health struggles, the university allegedly did nothing to help. Instead, it’s alleged that Moseley and his associates mocked her for having mental health issues.

Reportedly, Dr. Candia-Bailey detailed in one of her emails the “stigmatized bullying she faced from the President and other leadership officials” of the university. In addition, she referred to Moseley as a “bully” with a “callous and evil soul,” according to reports.

Following her death, the Lincoln University Of Missouri community and social media users wasted no time demanding that Moseley be fired.
