Diddy – Lil Rod’s Lawyer Blasted By UMG’s Lawyer For Adding Music Company & CEO Lucian Grainge To Sexual Abuse Lawsuit
Lawyers representing Universal Music Group and its CEO Sir Lucian Grainge have responded to Lil Rod naming them in his sexual abuse lawsuit against Diddy.
The music company’s attorney claims there is absolutely no evidence to support the music producer’s accusations, and made clear their intent to take legal action against the lawyer who filed the suit on Lil Rod’s behalf.
In a motion to dismiss the charges, UMG and Lucian Grainge’s attorney Donald Zakarin accused Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones’ attorney Tyrone Blackburn of filing the lawsuit for exposure and to boost his own career. They reportedly wrote of Blackburn in response to Jones‘ complaint:
“A license to practice law is a privilege…Mr. Blackburn, plaintiff’s lawyer, has misused that license to self-promote, gratuitously, falsely and recklessly accusing the UMG defendants of criminal behavior.”
In the initial lawsuit, Blackburn claimed that Diddy coerced and drugged Lil Rod into doing sexual favors during their time working on Diddy’s The Love Album: Off The Grid. The suit argued that UMG execs knew about the alleged abuse, and “aided and abetted” Diddy’s criminal actions. Blackburn reportedly added in an amendment that Diddy, Lucian Grainge and others also violated sex trafficking laws and the RICO act. As we recently reported, two women formerly linked to Diddy, Daphne Jones and Yung Miami were also named in the suit, with Jones claiming they received money for sex work.
However, Zakarin insisted,
“The [complaint] hurls accusations of criminal racketeering and criminal sex trafficking against the UMG defendants, respected individuals and companies having utterly nothing to do with plaintiff’s claims…These accusations are recklessly false and, but for the fact that they are embodied in a complaint, would be libelous.”
Zakarin added that the allegations against his clients are “offensively false,” and stated they are considering legal action against Blackburn for filing the suit they claim is “without the slightest factual or legal basis.”

As we’ve been covering, several individuals were named defendants in the suit Jones filed back in February. Along with the Bad Boys Records founder, UMG, and Grainge, Jones also named Diddy’s 30-year-old son Justin Dior Combs and others, who have since been dropped from the suit. Most recently, Jones added actor Cuba Gooding Jr. to the suit, alleging that he was molested by the Oscar winner while the two attended one of Diddy’s yacht parties.
