BRONNY JAMES DECLARES FOR NBA DRAFT, ENTERS TRANSFER PORTAL

Bronny James, the son of NBA leged LeBron James, has announced his decision to enter the 2024 NBA Draft.

The 19-year-old guard, who completed his freshman season at USC, will also enter the NCAA transfer portal as he explores his options.

In an Instagram post on Friday, he wrote, “I’ve had a year with some ups and downs but all added to growth for me as a man, student and athlete.I’ve made the decision to enter the NBA Draft while maintaining my college eligibility, and will also be entering the NCAA transfer portal.”

He continued, “Thank you to USC for an amazing Freshman year, and as always thankful for my family, friends, doctors, athletic trainers and fans for their support.

Bronny’s decision comes after a season at USC marked by both adversity and achievement, including a remarkable return to the court following a health scare.

In July,  James collapsed and suffered a cardiac arrest, which was caused by a congenital heart defect.

Despite not being featured in recent mock drafts, Bronny’s talent and potential have generated significant interest. His collegiate debut in December was met with cheers and applause, signaling not only a return to basketball but also a testament to his strength and perseverance. Throughout the season, Bronny showcased his skills on the court, averaging 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 19.3 minutes per game.

Meanwhile, Lebron has floated the idea of eventually playing alongside his son in the NBA. He stated to The Athletic in 2022, ““My last year will be played with my son,” he told The Athletic at the time. “Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year.”
