The 1,200-horsepower Brabus Shadow 1200 boasts triple V10 engines and a boatload of luxe amenities.

Like Brabus did with the “Superblack” 6×6 Mercedes-AMG G-Wagon, the luxury German automobile customizer’s seafaring sub brand determined that the best way to level-up its already-awesome Shadow speedboat is to make it bigger and more powerful.

At just over 45 feet long and 13 feet wide, the Brabus Shadow 1200 is the largest version yet in the covetable Shadow speedboat series, all of which are based on an excellent Red Dot-winning design by Finland’s Axopar Boats. Those familiar with Brabus’ naming conventions will know immediately that the Shadow 1200 is packing 1,200 horsepower, which is developed in triple Mercury Racing 5.7-liter V10 engines. Top speed is 55 knots, or just over 62 mph, which Axopar says is “unmatched” at this 45-foot size.

The helm, featuring a clean, uncluttered cockpit, is loaded with cutting-edge speed boat tech, including an Intelligent Steering Module that controls the bow thruster, trim tabs, and audio; a Simrad Yachting nine-inch touchscreen display for navigation; a reverse/aft-deck camera; and Mercury JPO (Joystick Piloting for Outboards) joystick steering, including Skyhook and Mercury autopilot features.

But Brabus also bills the Shadow 1200 as the “Grand Tourer of the world’s oceans.” Accordingly, the fully enclosed cruiser features five massive social spaces onboard: the foredeck, helm, cockpit, including the balcony doors, aft deck, and the front lounge with the gullwing doors. An extra-wide sociable sofa wraps around the electric grill-equipped cockpit wetbar, and there’s an option for a u-sofa or aft cabin on the aft deck. Brabus quilted upholstery is used throughout the main cabin and front lounge—clients can choose colors including “Graphite,” “Sunrise,” “Merlot” “Platinum,” and “Ice.

Other luxe amenities include a JL Audio system; dimmable LED, underwater and deck lighting, optional RGB lighting, dual electric sunroofs, and an infotainment media wall for the aft cabin.

The boat itself boasts the same black-and-gray Black Ops Signature Edition scheme we’ve seen on the Shadow 900, featuring a “BRABUS Graphite Black” paint job and Signature Style graphics that run across the entire exterior design concept, and accompanying black chrome hull badges.
