Blac Youngsta: Man Suspected Of Killing Rapper’s Brother Arrested And Charged, Bond Set At $1 Million

The man believed to be responsible for the murder of Blac Youngsta’s brother has been detained.

Last August, the brother of Memphis rapper Blac Youngsta, Tomanuel Benson was fatally shot at a gas station in South Memphis.

A month later, the U.S. Marshals offered a $5,000 reward for any information that would lead to the arrest of Randy Ewing, the man whom authorities suspected of being responsible for the killing. It now appears that there has been a breakthrough in the case.

On Tuesday evening (Feb. 13), U.S. Marshals discovered Ewing walking along Creighton Avenue. As per court documents, the suspect allegedly attempted to flee into a nearby residence.

Following several warnings, law enforcement deployed a K-9 unit, leading to Ewing’s apprehension. He received medical treatment for a bite on his leg from the K-9 before being taken into custody.

Additionally, reports suggest the suspect had a stolen firearm at the time of his arrest.

According to court records, Benson and Ewing were observed having a dispute before the shooting. When Benson turned away, Ewing reportedly shot him in the back of the head and subsequently fired into a vehicle. Another individual was also wounded but managed to survive.

When Ewing appeared in court on Thursday morning (Feb. 15), he visibly reacted after learning that he was being issued a $1 million bond in connection to Benson’s murder.

While addressing the suspected killer, the presiding judge said,

“You’ve also been charged with an A felony, second-degree murder. That carries 15 to 60 years if you are convicted.”

Ewing was scheduled to return to court Friday morning (February 16) for a hearing to review his bail.
